Features to Know About the 2020 Jeep Renegade

To prove that Jeep is still a Jeep, no matter how small, Jeep has gone completely retro with the Renegade subcompact crossover. Renegade shares a platform with its company sibling, the Fiat 500X, and offers a cute design in box-shaped packaging. With all-wheel drive and "trail-rated" badges, however, its purpose is also an adventure.

The 2020 Jeep Renegade is part of a paid generation that began in the 2015 model year. There have been quite some significant changes since then. If you plan on driving your SUV frequently, the Jeep Renegade is the right choice. It comes in four primary trim levels: Sport, Latitude, Limited, and Trailhawk. It also offers three limited-edition trim levels: Upland, Alt Altitude, and High Altitude.

Engine and Performance

The 2020 Jeep Renegade comes standard with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine producing 180-horsepower. A 177-horsepower 1.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder is available. Both these engines are paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission.

With a standard 2.4 liter engine and front-wheel drive, the 2020 Renegade provides an EPA estimate of 22 MPG in cities and 30 MPG on highways. Models with turbocharged engines and front-wheel drives will get an additional 2 MPG on city and highways.

On the tracks, 2020 Renegade offers the perfect comfortable ride with precise steering and balanced handling. It also maintains a peaceful ride on steep roads. Front-wheel drive comes standard, and an all-wheel drive is also available.

Interior and Cargo

The Renegade can accommodate up to five people. Both rows have ample headroom, and the front row legroom is roomy. However, the legroom in the rear seats is limited. Cloth seats are standard, and an eight-way power driver's seat, leather trim, and heated front seats are also available. It has two sets of LATCH connectors for the outer rear seats and a top cord for the rear center seat. The interior has a magnificent structure made of advanced materials. The Jeep features some hard plastic, but the experts at the Jeep Dealer in Bay City say it doesn't look cheap.

With the rear seat in its usual position, the Renegade has 18.5 cubic feet of cargo space. Almost the same story when folding the rear seat, releasing 50.8 cubes of space. The base trim features a 60/40 split back seat, but the top models get a more practical 40/20/40 split back seat design. Fortunately, broad and square openings make it easier to load more massive objects.

Comfort and Connectivity

More functional than luxury, the entry-level Renegade features cruise control, push-button ignition, halogen headlights, adjustable and heat mirrors, manual air conditioning, 12V auxiliary power outlet, six-speed manual-adjustable driver seat. More expensive trims have increased feature availability, more standard devices, or both, such as heating steering wheel, eight-way adjustable driver's seat, heated front seats, auto-dimming rearview mirror, dual-zone mode, and automatic weather control.

Jeep is fortunate that its vehicles use Fiat Chrysler's excellent infotainment system called Uconnect. While the base model has a standard 5.0-inch touch screen; a 7.0-inch and 8.4-inch versions are available and include Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Sirius XM satellite radio compatibility.

Safety Features

Jeep ships the 2020 Renegade with seven airbags, all-speed traction control, electronic roll mitigation, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, a rearview camera, tire-pressure monitoring system, and trailer-sway control. Hill-descent control comes standard on the off-road-focused Trailhawk.

The Renegade features an impressive suite of optional driver assistance devices, including front parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, and a semi-autonomous feature that helps parking in parallel and vertical locations.

We all know it's important for you to have a car that suits your needs. From a powerful standard engine to a wide range of features, there is something for everyone.
